Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Jeannette Mogoun

Theater

Jeannette Mogoun was born in Bandjoun in the west of Cameroon. She is an actress, author-composer, performer, director and a great defender of contemporary African and Francophone theatrical writing. The artist works in Cameroon, in various West African countries and in France.

Between 2005 and 2007, she has discovered theater at the Maison des jeunes et de la culture in Douala under the direction of young director and trainer Eric-Delphin Kwégoué. With a strong taste for discovering innovative techniques in theater and film, she was noticed by her stage presence, her acting skills and her determination.

From 2008 to 2012, she has worked as an actress in several plays: Epilogue d’une trottoire, by Alain Kamal Martial, Maluki theater; Le Caméléon, by Patrick Ndédi Penda, directed by Dovie Kendo, Koz’art theater; Orphée D’Afrique, by Werewere Liking, directed by Éric-Delphin Kwégoué, Théâtre des Coulisses…

In 2012, Jeannette Mogoun has founded the company “Les Racines” and has started to create texts that deal with deep and poetic themes in which children and adults alike find an echo.

For her creations, Jeannette Mogoun calls upon the work of the actor’s body, his/her energy and the crossing of theatrical techniques in the service of the characters’ composition.

Theater

Graduate of the Higher Institute of the Dramatic Arts in Damascus, Syria, Nanda Mohammad worked with a large number of Syrian theatre directors, mainly with Naila Al-Atrash and Omar Abu Saada.

Deeply involved in the contemporary Syrian and Egyptian theater scene, both as an actress and as a theater educator, Nanda Mohammad is regularly called upon by regional and international directors such as Tim Supple (UK), Nullo Facchini (Denmark), Ariane Mnouchkine (France), Khaled Al-Tarefi (Jordan/Palestine), Pascal Rambert (France), Ahmed El Attar (Egypt), Daniel San Pedro (France), Laila Soliman (Egypt) and Henri Jules Julien (France), among others. She is Based in Egypt since 2012 and since then she is a member of “temple theater company” directed by the Egyptian directer Ahmed El Attar.

She has worked in some of most important theaters and theater festivals in the world and also works as a voice and acting coach in Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Switzerland, Italy, UAE
since 2004 – Present , She foxes in her work as a trainer – through working on unusual relation between the voice and the body – on releasing and exploring the profound and hidden emotions which actors tend to hide through the process of their work.

In 2020 Syrian actress Nanda Mohammad was awarded with the French National Order of Merit for Arts and Letters, Knight Degree.
