Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Lou Motin

Year/s of residence : 2025, 2–12

Visual arts

Lou defines themselves as an urban gleaner, reusing and transforming construction debris and industrial waste to fuel visual narratives that are revealed to the public in the form of sculptures and installations.

Sensitive to the challenges of creation in a context of ecological urgency, Lou Motin questions the impact of our production on the environment. By presenting pieces that appear to have been extracted from a distant future, they invite the public to step into the shoes of a biologist, botanist or archaeologist exploring the traces and drifts of the Capitalocene.
