Artists in residence
Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Julieth Morales

Julieth Morales’ artistic work focuses on female cultural identity, the indigenous socio-cultural context in Colombia, and her relationship with it from her own perspective. As an indigenous Misak artist, she emphasises self-recognition and connection with her roots. Through collaborative work with the women of her community, she restores meaning to the ‘Pulø’ body and rituality, where the resulting performance, video, photography, screen printing, or installation are a means of exploring, questioning, and honouring their identity, history, and ancestral relationship with the land; thus finding ways to heal historical wounds by reaffirming their place in the contemporary world. Thinking of collective action as an indigenous community, where we do not speak of performance but of ritual and harmonisation with the territory, allows her to weave new narratives that intertwine with the old ones, giving shape to a network of identity in motion.
