Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Music

Javier Muñoz Bravo is a Chilean composer interested in both instrumental and electronic music. His catalog of works includes pieces for soloist, chamber music, ensemble, orchestra, music for dance and cinema. He is inspired by natural phenomena such as chaotic processes or the behavior of light. He works on the flexibility of time in real time music and on artificial intelligence.

Javier Muñoz Bravo studied composition at the Conservatory of the University of Chile in Santiago. After training at the Conservatory of Strasbourg with Mark Andre, he obtained a Master’s degree in Composition at the Haute école des arts du Rhin in Strasbourg with Philippe Manoury and Tom Mays. He attended the Cursus in Composition and Computer Music at IRCAM in Paris with Hector Parra and obtained a Master’s degree in Mixed Composition at the Haute école de musique de Genève with Michael Jarrell, Luis Naon and Eric Daubresse. He has also taken courses with Haspeter Kyburz, Miller Puckette, Georg Friedrich Haas, Yan Maresz, Philippe Leroux, José Manuel López López, Martin Matalon, Annette Schlünz, Luca Belcastro, Bruno Mantovani, Thierry Blondeau, Yann Robin and Johannes Maria Straud.

His music has been performed at the Festivals Musica (Strasbourg), Ircam Manifeste (Paris), Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo (Monaco), Impuls (Germany), Cervantinos (Mexico) and Archipel (Geneva) by ensembles such as Contrechamps, Multilatérale, Les Métaboles, Sillages, Orchestre de la Hem de Genève, Geneva Camerata (with the actress Isabelle Adjani as soloist narrator of the work)

Javier Muñoz Bravo was awarded the Aide à l’écriture of the French Ministry of Culture.
