Artists in residence
Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Taysir Batniji (Gaza, 1966) graduated from Al-Najah University in Nablus (BA, 1992) and ENSA in Bourges (DNSEP, 1997). Based in Paris, he divides his time between France and Palestine. Since 2000, he has been developing a multidisciplinary practice centred on the image, exploring exile, memory and fragility through a poetic and detached approach. His work has been widely exhibited in Europe and internationally, and is included in numerous collections. Since 2018, the Rencontres d’Arles, the MAC VAL, the Mathaf (Doha) and the Palazzina dei Giardini (Modena) have dedicated solo exhibitions to him. Winner of the Abraaj Group Art Prize (2012) and the Hermès/Aperture ‘Immersion’ programme (2017), he is represented by the Sfeir-Semler gallery.
