Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Cinema

Francisco Rodríguez Teare is originally from Chile. In 2018, he completed a post-graduate degree at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains.

His practice is both rooted in cinema and expansive forms of projections. In his video productions, he questions the world through a multiplicity of views in order to reconstruct a memory from different perspectives. In his work, he crosses different thematic axes such as the opacity of violence, the traces of the dead in the world of the living, astronomy, history, memory as a variation of myth or the survival of beings in violent territories.

His films have been shown in various festivals and art events, including the Film Society of Lincoln Center, DocLisboa, Courtisane, Shanghai Film Festival, Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, Birkbeck Institute for the Moving Image, CPH:DOX.

He received the Grand Prize for Short Film at the Festival de Cine de Valdivia FICV, the Jury Prize and the Director’s Prize at Fesancor – Festival Chileno Internacional del Cortometraje de Santiago, the Grand Prize at the Latino and Iberian Film Festival at Yale. He was also nominated for the Pedro Sienna National Film Award in Chile and received the Grand Prize Punto de Vista at the Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de Navarra.
