Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Gaby Sahhar

Visual arts

Gaby Sahhar is a French-Palestinian artist based in London. Their multidisciplinary practice explores representations of queerness in the public sphere, examining how these depictions influence queer consciousness and communities.

Sahhar creates dialogue on themes such as migration, gender, and the intersection of queer identity with urban and corporate spaces. Using a range of mediums including painting, film, and installation, they illustrate the psychological and physical frameworks that challenge borders and identity.Their work delves into the tension between identity, resistance, and the social fabric of architecture, shedding light on these complex and intersecting themes through research and visual archives.

Sahhar’s exhibitions include: Magasins Généraux, Pantin (2024); Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris (2024); CIRCA (2024); MAC VAL, Paris (2023); PAGE (NYC), New York (2022); Fragment Gallery, New York (2022); Sadie Coles HQ, London (2022); and other notable venues such as the Museum of Moscow (2020) and the South London Gallery (not specified but mentioned in other contexts)
