The Cité internationale des arts welcomes artists from all over the world through a wide range of residency programmes

The Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (FUD UJEP) and the Cité internationale des arts in Paris have co-developed a research and creation residency programme dedicated to artists who are academics at FUD UJEP or have recently graduated from FUD UJEP or are actually involved in doctoral studies at FUD UJEP.
The aim of this programme is to support and facilitate the mobility of artists from the wider academic ecosystem of FUD UJEP and to strengthen their professional development and involvement in international artistic networks. The partners are committed to supporting each beneficiary’s projects by providing professional support, networking opportunities and full funding for a three-month residency in Paris.
Two artists will be selected to become full-fledged residents of the Cité internationale des arts in Paris.
The selected artists will be supported by a scholarship of €5100 provided by the Rector of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, doc. RNDr. Jaroslav Koutský, Ph.D., and the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, prof. Mgr. Zdena Kolečková, Ph.D.
Selected artists will be provided with:
- Professional support, individual meetings and networking opportunities organised by the residency programme partners;
- Live-in studio (one space combining living and work) at the Cité internationale des arts;
- Monthly per diem of €1200 (€3600 in total);
- A contribution to international round-trip transport to Paris airports and travel insurance of up to €500;
- One-time support for research and artistic creation in the amount of €1000.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
To apply, candidates must:
- Be an academic of FUD UJEP / a recent graduate – postgraduate artist (maximum 10 years after graduation from FUD UJEP) / a doctoral student at FUD UJEP;
- Have developed professional artistic practice for at least 5 years;
- Be a visual artist or work in a field related to the artistic disciplines of FUD UJEP.
Collective applications are not eligible.
Applications will be assessed by a jury composed of representatives of partner institutions.
In addition to evaluating the professional background of the candidates, the jury will pay special attention to:
- The artistic quality of the portfolio and the proposed research project;
- Justification regarding the relevance of the residency in France and at the Cité internationale des arts;
- The proposed working methodology, as well as contacts or partnerships already established in order to develop the results of the residential project in the long term.

Once your application has been finalised, you will not be able to modify it. Please complete this form as thoroughly as possible. Telephone enquiries will not be answered.
You will need to upload the following documents:
- a detailed curriculum vitae (maximum 4 pages), in English;
- an artistic portfolio in English, including full-captioned visuals (up to 15 pages), with links to videos or representative audio files where relevant (mp3, avi);
- a statement in English explaining the motivation for their application and their interest in joining the residency program. Applicants must explain why their current work requires a residency in Paris and at the Cité internationale des arts, from an artistic, professional and networking point of view (maximum 3 pages).

Terms and conditions of residency
The laureates will be accommodated in live-in-studios located on the Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts. With a surface area ranging from 25 to 40m², the live-in-studios are designed to combine creative work and daily life. They consist of a workroom, kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area. A live-in-studio can accommodate up to two adults and one child up to 10 years old. Additional fees will be charged for accompanying persons.
Unfortunately, the proposed live-in-studios do not meet current accessibility standards for people with disabilities, but efforts are being made to address this for the future.
