Eligibility and Selection Criteria
The Kota Residency Programme has no age limit and is open to individuals of all nationalities, provided they have been living and working in Indonesia for at least 7 years.
Applicants must:
• Have an artistic or research practice in the fields of visual and performance arts, music and sound research, live performance, writing, design, architecture-urbanism, curatorial practice, or art criticism
• Be able to demonstrate at least 5 years of professional artistic experience
• Be capable of communicating and engaging in either English or French
For one of the two residencies, special attention will be given to artists whose work addresses themes related to remote areas outside major urban centers in the archipelago or maintains ties to these regions.
Group applications (duos, collectives) are accepted, but only one set of benefits will be awarded: one flight ticket, one live-in-studio, one living stipend, and coverage of transportation costs.
Applications will be reviewed by a jury composed of representatives from the programme’s partners and qualified professionals.
In addition to evaluating applicants’ professional background, the jury will pay special attention to the artistic quality of the project, the reasoning provided for the added value of the residency experience in Paris and at the Cité internationale des arts, the proposed work protocol, and any existing contacts or partnerships in the framework of developing a residency project.

The laureates will be accommodated in live-in-studios located on the Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts. With a surface area ranging from 25 to 40m², the live-in-studios are designed to combine creative work and daily life. They consist of a workroom, kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area. A live-in-studio can accommodate up to two adults and one child up to 10 years old. Additional fees will be charged for accompanying persons.
Unfortunately, the proposed live-in-studios do not meet current accessibility standards for people with disabilities, but efforts are being made to address this for the future.
