Présentation
The Institut français du Maroc, which works to promote culture throughout Morocco and supports the development of innovative projects in the artistic, digital and academic fields, and the Cité internationale des arts have jointly developed a research and creative residency programme aimed at exhibition curators and/or art critics, musicians and performing artists working and living in Morocco.
The aim of this programme is to encourage and facilitate the mobility of artists and professionals based in Morocco and to expand their professional and artistic networks.
The residency programme will host three successful applicants from the fields of music, the performing arts and exhibition curation at the Cité internationale des arts (Marais site).
The residency
The laureates will benefit from:
- Support, networking opportunities and meetings organised by the partners of the residency programme;
- Accommodation and a workspace at the Cité internationale des arts;
- A living allowance of at least €1,000 per month;
- Coverage of return international travel to and from Paris airports, as well as travel insurance and visa costs.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
To apply, candidates must:
- Be a performing artist or exhibition curator;
- Have been pursuing a professional artistic practice for at least five years;
- Work and reside in Morocco.
Applications from duos or collectives are not eligible.
Applications will be assessed by a jury comprising representatives of the programme’s partners.
In addition to assessing the candidates’ professional backgrounds, the jury members will pay particular attention to:
- the artistic quality of the applications and research projects submitted;
- the rationale presented regarding the necessity of this residency in France and at the Cité internationale des arts;
- the proposed working plan and any contacts or partnerships already established with a view to developing a residency project.

How to apply?
Applications to the Cité internationale des arts committees must be submitted via the dedicated online form.
To submit your application, you will need a Google account. If you do not have one, please create one HERE.
The application form must be completed in full and requires:
- A detailed CV (maximum 4 pages), in French or English;
- An artistic portfolio, in French or English, including images of works with full captions (maximum 15 pages), with video links and audio files representative of the work where applicable (mp3, avi);
- A statement of intent, in French or English, in which applicants explain the motivations behind their approach and their interest in joining the residency programme. They must explain why their current work requires a residency in Paris and at the Cité internationale des arts, from the perspectives of their artistic practice, career path and professional network (maximum 3 pages).
Applications that do not comply with the above guidelines, formats or word limits will not be considered. Multiple applications are not accepted

Conditions of the residency
The laureates will be accommodated in live-in studios located on the Marais Site of the Cité internationale des arts. Ranging in size from 25 to 40m², the live-in studios are designed to combine creative work with everyday life. They consist of a workspace, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a sleeping area. A live-in studio can accommodate up to two adults and one child aged 10 or under. Additional fees apply for accompanying persons.
Unfortunately, the live-in studios currently on offer do not meet current accessibility standards for people with disabilities, and we are working to address this in the future.
