Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Architecture and design

Anne-Lise Agossa (b. 1997) is a designer and architect based between London and Abidjan, whose practice spans art, architecture, and design.

Rooted in the complex relationship between culture and space, her work explores the gap between past and future within an African context.

Particularly influenced by the geo-cultural landscape of West Africa, the Sahel, and the Central Sahara, as well as their oral and material traditions, she investigates cosmologies, mythologies, identities, and cultural practices by conceptualizing hybrid visual worlds through form, texture, and movement, with research as a starting point.

Having grown up in several West African countries while being immersed in elements of Western culture, her higher education (2016-2022) at the Architectural Association in London, and her travels, her work explores the parallels and in-between spaces of cultures, their identities, and their visual markers.
