Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Visual arts

Lisa Boostani is a multi-disciplinary artist of Spanish-Iranian origin.

Gratuated from l’école d’image des Gobelins in Paris with a specialization in photography, she works as a director and photographer in the fields of documentary, music and fashion.

Her fascination for gestures, body dynamics and the realm of dreams naturally led her to performance art. Through it, she explores the psycho-physical language, experiencing her own body as a basic material, alive and mutable. Her research is part of an initiatory and healing process, where distancing and surpassing oneself opens the way to a new consciousness. It is in an art of metamorphosis that Lisa Boostani explores emotions, their expressions in gesture, movement, image and sound.

Through invented worlds, atmospheres that play with the sensation of dreams and fictitious characters, she mixes symbols and archetypes to propose a different way of being in the world. An antidote served with humor, to free oneself from the norm and the various socio-cultural conditionings.

Visual arts

In her work, Dineo Seshee Bopape explores memory and identity through a socio-political perspective. Her combinations of images and objects multiply her narratives and viewpoints on society, gender, sexuality and colonial history. She is the winner of the Future Generation Art Prize 2017, as well as the Sharjah Biennial Prize 2017. She is represented by the Sfeir-Semler (Beirut) and Bendana Pinel (Paris) galleries.

For several years, Dineo Bopape has explored the element of earth from different angles that are intimately related to the socio-politics: the history of the possession and dispossession of land, the social-economic-political histories of diverse types of mining (minerals, metals, nutriments, etc.) and its implications for our collective body and the body of the earth.

In the context of her residency project Vibe: Sa lerole ke kosha, she will explore this element and study the energy and resonance of minerals to translate them into song. The research will therefore take the form of a song: creating a song of the earth, creating songs for the earth and recording them in different places.
