Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Cinema

Judith Auffray is a filmmaker born in Paris in 1993. Her work focuses on individuals and life forms on the margins of society, exploring modes of coexistence and communication outside dominant languages. Her first feature film, Une maison (2020, 82 minutes), shot in a home for autistic individuals as her graduation project at HEAD Geneva, was released in cinemas in 2021. During her studies at Le Fresnoy, she created 7h15-merle noir (2022, 30 minutes), which won Best Film at the Ji.hlava Festival, and Les Hommes de la nuit (2022, 16 minutes). Her films, rooted in extensive theoretical and formal research, blur the lines between documentary and fiction, cinema and contemporary art, science and dreams.

Her work has been showcased at international festivals such as the San Sebastián Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, FID Marseille, Cinéma du Réel, and Tampere FF. It has also been presented in institutions like the Centre Pompidou, Forum des Images, and Le Lieu Unique.

Currently a resident at the Cité internationale des arts, she is developing her second feature film with support from the Centre National des Arts Plastiques and the Institut Français.
