Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Visual arts

A researcher in textile arts, it is after graduating from the Centre des Métiers d’Arts, that the artist specializes more in featherwork, a discipline that she experiments and develops around a major artifact of Polynesian heritage: the “Maro’ura”. This fragment that she reinterprets in her work was the subject of an eponymous exhibition at the musée du quai Branly in Paris.

Her approach stems from an in-depth research of the methods, practices and ancestral know-how of the Polynesian heritage around the textile, to then transpose this knowledge by a contemporary reinterpretation of the “gesture”. The artist relies on the past to bring a reflection of the current world and its ecological issues related to textiles. She also brings, through her work, visibility to the Polynesian heritage and an anchoring of the past in our contemporary society.
