Programme
Since 2022, as part of the ésam Starter scheme, each year the Cité internationale des arts has hosted two artists graduating from the école supérieure d’arts & médias de Caen/Cherbourg for a period of three months, with the professional support of a curator, member of national association for exhibition curator (French Association of Exhibition Curators).
The aim of this collaboration between the Cité internationale des arts and ésam Caen/Cherbourg is to support and promote the professional integration of young creators. The aim is for the winners to devote themselves entirely to their artistic practice and to building up their professional network.

Both an education institution and a cultural facility, the École Supérieure d’Arts & Médias Caen/Cherbourg offers a wide range of training courses and activities for a variety of audiences on its two sites.
ésam Caen/Cherbourg was created in 2011 from the merger of the regional school of fine arts in Caen la mer (founded in 1795) and the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Cherbourg-Octeville (1912). Today, it is a public establishment for cultural cooperation under the joint supervision of Caen la mer Normandie Communauté urbaine, the city of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, the Communauté d’agglomération du Cotentin, the French Ministry of Culture and the Région Normandie.
Founded in 2007, C-E-A / French Association of Exhibition Curators’s purpose is to bring together people who are curators of contemporary art in France and to provide a platform for reflection, promotion and organization of actions and projects around the world.
