galang
Programme for Australian indigenous artists
Programme
Powerhouse Parramatta and the Cité internationale des arts have jointly developed the galang residency programme, designed for Australian-based First Nations artists and creatives.
The galang residency is an initiative of Powerhouse Artistic Associate, Wiradjuri artist, writer and curator Dr Brook Garru Andrew, inspired by Powerhouse-galang, an international collective of First Nations artists, scholars and curators. Powerhouse-galang provides First Nations artists, researchers and creatives with solidarity and support to reflect on the urgent changes required in museums and collections. The collective was devised by Dr Brook Garru Andrew and includes the following members: Dr Léuli Eshrāghi, Dr Liisa-Rávná Finbog, Lisa Hilli, Dr Biung Ismahasan, Gail Mabo, Mayunkiki, and Kanoko Tamura.
