The programme

Since 1967, the Power Institute x Cité internationale des arts programme has enabled more than 140 Australian artists and scholars to conduct creative or theoretical research in the heart of Paris. The programme aims to promote the richness of the Australian arts scene and gives artists, craftspeople, curators, art writers, University of Sydney staff members and PhD candidates the opportunity to become part of the Cité internationale des arts community.

Eligibility criteria

  • Be an Australian national or a permanent resident of Australia
  • Be an artist, craftsperson, curator, writer or art historian, staff member or PhD candidate of the University of Sydney

Power Institute, Foundation for Art and Visual Culture at the University of Sydney

The Power Institute is a foundation of the University of Sydney dedicated to the study of the contemporary world through art and visual culture. It supports research through international residencies, visiting scholar programmes and by providing access to one of Australia’s largest art libraries. In addition, the Power Institute produces scholarly publications and offers programmes for the general public.
