Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Music

Chonglian Yu, born in Hangzhou (China), is a composer, sound artist, and programmer who explores the boundaries of sonic language as a medium for sensory and artistic connection. His work focuses on computer music, multimedia installations and performances, extended reality, and digital gamification.

Yu studied music composition, computer music, and sound art in the United States, Netherlands, and Austria. His works have been featured at international festivals and venues mainly across Europe, such as ZKM (Karlsruhe), the Venice Biennale Musica, Ars Electronica (Linz), the Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam), and CYENS (Cyprus), among others.

Currently, Yu is a doctoral researcher affiliated with the Music, Thought, and Technology research cluster at the Orpheus Instituut in Ghent, Belgium. His research focuses on the compositional potential of speculative narratives involving the cybernetically augmented audience, realized through prototyping experimental wearable devices.
