Programme for women photographers
Programme
At the initiative and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Cité internationale des arts has structured a research residency programme dedicated to mid-career women photographers, so as to offer the opportunity for a professional springboard. The programme is also supported by the Neuflize OBC Foundation and ADAGP.
This residency programme is open to female photographers from the French scene with at least ten years’ professional experience. Applicants must live outside the Ile-de-France region and not be represented by a gallery in Paris. The residencies are open to six women photographers per year, and will run for a period of three months. The recipients receive individual and collective artistic and professional support from the Cité internationale des arts team and mentors (personalities from the world of photography chosen specifically on the basis of the winners’ career path), as well as occasional contact with representatives of photography and visual arts institutions.

- Be able to demonstrate at least ten years of professional artistic experience

La Direction générale de la création artistique (DGCA) définit, coordonne et évalue la politique de l’État relative aux arts visuels et au spectacle vivant, en l’inscrivant dans une logique plus large d’aménagement et de développement du territoire. Ses missions couvrent, dans les domaines relevant de ses compétences, le soutien à la création, l’aide à l’insertion professionnelle, l’enrichissement des collections publiques, l’élargissement des publics et des réseaux de diffusion. Au sein de la Délégation aux arts visuels, le Département de la photographie (DGCA/ministère de la Culture) impulse et met en œuvre les politiques nationales en faveur de la photographie. Il soutient la création photographique et assure une mission de protection du patrimoine photographique. Le département participe activement à la structuration de réseaux professionnels dans la filière photographique. Enfin, il veille au respect des enjeux de la photographie au sein de la presse et de l’environnement numérique. Il développe depuis plusieurs années des actions fortes en faveur de l’égalité femmes-hommes : Elles x Paris Photo, Ellesfontlaculture, le Prix Françoise Demulder avec le festival Visa pour l’image, …
Le Secrétariat général du ministère de la culture est notamment en charge de piloter la politique ministérielle en matière de responsabilité sociale, sociétale et environnementale. Rattachée au secrétariat général, la Haute fonctionnaire en charge de l’égalité, de la diversité et de la prévention des discriminations participe à la définition et à l’impulsion de la politique interne et externe de promotion de l’égalité et de l’inclusion. Elle travaille avec l’ensemble des services, en lien étroit avec les établissements publics et en dialoguant avec les secteurs culturels, dans l’ensemble du périmètre d’action du ministère de la culture. Elle est également chargée de mettre en œuvre les actions qui sont inscrites dans les engagements interministériels pour lutter contre toute forme de discrimination.

Founded in 1953, ADAGP is a French copyright collection and distribution society. It operates in the field of visual arts.
With a global network of 56 sister societies, it now represents more than 260,000 artists across all disciplines: painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, design, comics, manga, illustration, street art, digital creation, video art, etc.
In addition, ADAGP encourages the arts scene by initiating and financially supporting projects that stimulate and promote creativity, and by promoting it nationally and internationally.
